Our Mentors

Ultimately kids view our mentors and tutors as positive big brother/sister role-models whose interactions fall between a friend and a professional. The mentors purpose is to be the student’s buddy, but also to be explicit about the goals they are trying to achieve.

Our San Diego mentors are college-aged, enthusiastic, energetic, skilled professionals. Most work for us part time while simultaneously pursuing careers in education, social work, counseling, therapy or are students pursuing related degrees. We attract people who are ethical, fun, spontaneous, athletic, charismatic and reliable. Our mentors are very personable which helps to create a good first impression and immediate connection with the student. We have an eclectic group. Many of our mentors have hobbies and interests that we are able to incorporate into the mentoring program. For example, if a student is wishing to learn an instrument or sport, we could pair him or her with a mentor who has an expertise in this area. During the intake process families disclose their child’s interests and personality type and mentors are paired along these lines.

Many of our mentors in San Diego have worked with ClubXcite for several years and have maintained long-term relationships with the families they have worked with. ClubXcite has the goal of ensuring quality care of each family. To ensure this quality of excellence, all our mentors go through a series of interviews and are given a background check before becoming a ClubXcite mentor.
