Name: Alyssa D.
Location: San Diego, CA
Overview:
Alyssa is a mentor and tutor at our partner site, The San Diego Youth Services, providing services for at-risk children and teens. Alyssa is brilliant and ambitious! After graduation, she plans on applying to graduate school to obtain a PsyD in clinical psychology. She hopes to be able to help children or young adults who have any kind of cognitive or physical disability.
Education: I am originally from Davis, California. I currently attend San Diego State University where I am hoping to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology in the spring of 2013.
Experience: I previously worked for four years at summer camps in which children with and without disabilities attended. From this experience I gained insight on how to better communicate and interact with children whom have special needs. I also volunteer at Alexa's Place which is the Autism Center for children at the Rady Children's Hospital.
Hobbies & Skills: I have played basketball and softball since I was in elementary school. I also love to dance and I enjoy any kind of outdoor activity.
Why ClubXcite? I am so honored to be a part of ClubXcite. I genuinely feel that this program influences every child that it reaches in a positive way. I hope to make a difference, big or small, in the lives of the people whom I come into contact with. Working with children is not only something I love to do, but it is my passion.
